THE BEARINGER PROJECT

124 N. Franklin
Saginaw, MI

Built in 1893 by lumber baron Isaac Bearinger, this incredible building has been a premiere location for businesses in Downtown Saginaw. Today, it sits vacant and owned by the Saginaw Economic Development Corporation (SEDC).

Currently, the building is being studied by the City of Saginaw Historic District Commission to establish a Local Historic District, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Re: Saginaw sees this building as an opportunity for high-visibility momentum, beautifying an existing entertainment district while pushing the building into redevelopment.

Broken Windows

Re: Saginaw believes in blight remediation through window restoration. A single pane of glass can go a long way when improving an area. We offer window restoration services with a focus on historic wooden windows, and with each broken window we repair, visible signs of improvement will be spotted from all directions.

Connecting the Dots

Marketing Through Storytelling

Re: Saginaw Community Development is uniquely positioned to market buildings, due to in-house partnership with Hound Lab Films. All progress on the building will be heavily documented and shared on social media to build excitement as we move towards development. The Bearinger Building had a segment in the 2017 documentary, Re: Saginaw, which explored the building’s most recent use as a hub for Saginaw’s local creatives. Of that film came a mini-series concept, Bearinger Stories, comprised of 6 short films highlighting a past tenant from each floor of the building, sharing its past while exploring its future.
